HANNAH RAY THOMAS
WHAT’S NEW
This month saw my first contribution to an anthology! The Lake Forest Writers’ Roundtable, a writing group local to South Orange County, California (but welcome to all members of O.C. Writers), published The Truth That Can’t Be Told 3, featuring a collection of short stories and poetry from eighteen writers.
My piece is a non-fiction paranormal story (yup, you read that right!). If you enjoy those kinds of stories, and can suspend disbelief, I hope you will check it out! Here’s a blurb:
SCREENREADING
The month of June also brought an exciting opportunity to volunteer with the Glendale International Film Festival (GIFF). As I work toward finishing up my screen reading classes with Hollywood Gatekeepers, I thought volunteering with GIFF would give me a great introduction to this kind of work, where I get to support screenwriters from around the globe.
The six-day Festival runs Thursday, September 26-Tuesday, October 1, 2024 in Glendale, CA (Los Angeles County) and will feature screenings, special programs, Q&As, panel discussions, and networking opportunities with fellow industry professionals. You can find out more about it here.
WIP UPDATE
I have put a pause on actual writing until I tackle some necessary research. A big chunk of it is related to character development. My protagonist’s health is at stake, and that is getting in the way of her career ambitions. I had to go in search of a medical expert who could educate me on what her symptoms and disease progression would look like. I was fortunate enough to find a recently retired doctor who now has the time to provide a few hours of consultation. He is also an accomplished writer here in Orange County! More on all of this later…
